DC Slide PCBs

Inside every (Ross Hill) style DC module rides the DC slide — the drawout assembly whose printed circuit boards turn the driller's commands into precisely timed SCR gate firing. ETSCO supplies replacement DC slide PCBs & the related control boards that keep legacy analog SCR drive systems making power for drawworks, mud pumps, & rotary tables.

When a rig “loses a slide,” the trouble shows up at the brake handle & the mud pump: erratic throttle response, nuisance current-limit, a bay that will not fire, or a bridge that will not share load. The cure is usually a board — identified correctly, & replaced with the right legend & revision.

Board families ETSCO supports

The analog SCR houses built by (Ross Hill, Hill Hayes, & Hill Graham) share a family of plug-in printed circuit boards, each with one job & each identified by the legend printed on the board itself. ETSCO's inventory of replaceable components covers the boards these systems use most, including:

Drive & regulation boards

  • DC slide firing & regulation boards
  • Power limit boards
  • Field supply regulator boards
  • Voltage feedback boards
  • DC & SCR auxiliary boards

Control & protection boards

  • Generator & exciter boards
  • Ground fault detection boards
  • Sprocket slip boards
  • Contactor auxiliary boards
  • Driller’s console boards

Contact ETSCO to confirm current support for the boards you need.

Identifying & ordering replacement boards

Board-level identification is exact work, & the fastest quotes come from the best information. Send the system family (Ross Hill, Hill Hayes, Hill Graham, or IPS style), the board legend, part number, & revision exactly as printed on the board, the module or cubicle the board serves, the symptoms observed on the rig, & clear photographs of both sides of the board. If the legend is burned or unreadable, photographs of the module & its cubicle nameplate will usually get identification started.
