Duplex (NOV) Style Blowers
Heat management is critical to SCR drive-system reliability. ETSCO supplies Duplex (NOV) style blower assemblies — twin centrifugal impellers driven by a common motor — for forced-air cooling in legacy SCR power cubicles and DC drilling-motor applications. Similar arrangements are used in Ross Hill, Hill Hayes and Hill Graham style SCR houses and motor installations.
Duplex blowers move high volumes of air across the SCR bridge heat sinks inside the power cubicle, & deliver pressurized cooling air to DC drilling motors — drawworks, mud pumps, & rotary tables — including (GE) 752 style motor frames. When a blower seizes or slows, heat builds in thyristor junctions & motor windings, component life gets shorter, & drilling stops. Replacement, not improvisation, is the correct path.

Why the blower matters
Every thyristor in the power cubicle sheds heat through its heat sink, & every DC drilling motor depends on pressurized air moving through the frame — both jobs belong to the blower. A tired blower announces itself early: rising cubicle temperatures, nuisance overtemperature trips, bearings that growl at the end of a tour. Catching it at that stage & replacing the assembly is far cheaper than the thyristor stack or motor rewind that follows a cooling failure.
